Judg 7:1-2 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
Judg 7:7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.

Gideon is about to learn that little is much when God is in it. The men who came to fight with Gideon numbered over 30,000 and that numbered was reduced to 300. The enemy they faced was so great in number that a figure is not given. (Judg 7:12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.) What God commanded Gideon to do did not make sense. But Gideon is learning that to obey God is better, to have God on your side is better, that little is much when God is in it. There are times when we try to make sense of something we know God wants us to do instead of just obeying God. What that leads us to is doubt and confusion. We need to do as Gideon did, obey God. Obey God in every circumstance, at every turn in the road, in every decision we must make, obey God. What if we just obeyed God? My visitation partner talked to an older man in poor health last night as we went from door to door as a church inviting people out to church and sharing the gospel. This man was in doubt and fear concerning his place in eternity. He listened to the gospel, appreciated the invitation to come to church, gladly accepted gospel tracts, but did not want to obey God in salvation. I pray he comes to Jesus Christ and just obey that simple command “Ye must be born again.” It is always better to obey God even if it doesn’t seem to make sense in our minds. The main excuse was that he didn’t have time. We always have time to obey God.
