KJV
“Why doesn’t God just take me home?” That is a question I often hear as a pastor when I am visiting the sick and elderly who know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior. It is a question that I understand more and more as I grow older in years and in the Lord as well. There is a much better place to spend time that this world for the Christian and as this world gets worse and worse heaven seems brighter and brighter. But note in this prayer where Jesus is praying for those who have received Him as their savior He states that He is NOT praying for us to be taken out of this world? Why? Because as long as we are in this world He has purpose for us. That purpose may seem to change as we change because of age or sickness, but He still has purpose for us. I want to look at that purpose in this prayer of Jesus this week and we will see that even though our lives may seem to change His purpose does not. If you have the time read this chapter with me daily this week as we look for the purpose of God in our lives and prayerfully see why we are still in this world.
