The last of our sure covenants that we will look at this week is the sure covenant of prayer. God has promised to hear and answer our prayers. (Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. ; 1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:) It does not mean that we will be granted all that we want. Many times a child, and we are children of God, will ask for something that will not be good for them and a loving parent must hold it back. But it does mean God does hear us and when we are asking for things according to His will they will come to pass. (1 John 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.) I have not been given all that I have asked for in the past or even now. What I do know is that my God hears and answers those prayers in a way that will be best for me and glorify Him. When we pray with that in mind we do find that many times we receive even the desires of our hearts. (Ps 37:3-5 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.) Thank Him today for His covenant of prayer.
