Luke 5:1-6 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,
2 And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
3 And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon’s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.
4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Sorry no devotional yesterday as I was on the road from early in the morning. Today we see yet another step of obedience by Peter. Jesus in the ship, Peter with Jesus in the ship, and now, let down your nets. Peter knew that this would not bring a catch. (Verse 5) But Peter still obeyed. Jesus in the ship, Peter in the ship with Jesus, now Peter obeying a command that he did not fully understand. Peter was the fisherman, Peter knew there were no fish where they were, but because Jesus said it Peter obeyed. It is not important that we understand the why of everything we are commanded to do, it is important that we obey. Peter had no idea what was about to happen, only Jesus did. What if Peter had said no, what would he have missed out on? Nevertheless should be a word we are familiar with when we do not fully understand all that we are commanded to do because God completely understands. One more step of obedience tomorrow.
