Luke 19:35-38 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
KJV
We are looking at Jesus in what many call “Passion Week”. The first thing Jesus did after His entry into Jerusalem was weep over the city, weep over the lost. Jesus has a passion for lost souls. The second thing Jesus did was the cleansing of the temple. Jesus has a passion for truth.
The third thing Jesus did was preach and teach those who were eager to hear. (Luke 20:9 Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.) The religious elders began to question Jesus at the beginning of this chapter, not because they wanted to hear from Him but because they wanted to argue with Him. Jesus did not answer them but began to speak in parables. Parables were something that the common people wanted and could understand. Parables were simple Bible truths that the common people could receive. Parables were for those eager to hear and eager to receive. Jesus did not hide truth from the elders of Israel, they too could hear, but He did speak directly to those who wanted to hear. Jesus continues to speak today to those eager to hear through His Word and the Holy Spirit. Are you eager to hear from Jesus today? It amazes me at times how many highly educated people cannot understand the simple truths of the Bible and at the same time a little child can. One is eager to hear and the other is not. Are you eager to hear from Jesus today? When that answer is yes He will speak to you.
