Luke 19:35-40 And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way.
37 And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen;
38 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39 And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

So begins what many call “Passion Week”. Have you ever considered what Jesus ever did in His earthly ministry without passion? Passion means a strong desire, to do something with great devotion and desire, to do something with great emotion. What did Jesus ever do without passion? Note the first thing recorded after His entry into Jerusalem fulfilling prophecy. (Luke 19:41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,) Jesus began to weep for the lost. That passion for souls is what brought Jesus Christ into this world and what helped carry Him to that cross and then an empty tomb. Jesus had great compassion for the lost and a great passion for the work of the cross. Jesus cared about the lost. Do you? How much do we care today about the lost? What is our passion to witness to those who are lost in sin and headed to hell? Jesus took no time to enjoy the multitude praising His name, Jesus wept over the lost. Jesus had a passion for the cross, a passion to seek and to save the lost. May we as we look at Jesus during passion week as seen in the Bible take on the mind and actions of our Savior as we are commanded to do and begin with a passion to win souls for Christ, a passion for the lost. Multitudes of people all around us are lost and will die and go to hell unless someone shares the gospel with them and they repent and turn to Christ. May we have a passion to win souls.
