2 Chron 20:15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
KJV
What blessed assurance is found in this verse, the battle is not yours, but God’s. I was able to talk with and pray with a brother pastor last evening who is in the midst of a battle. There are times when one seems to be overwhelmed, where there seems to be no way out and little chance of victory and I am sure all of us feel that way from time to time. It is at those times we need to be reminded of the great God that we serve. Moses before the Red Sea found out the battle was not his, it was God’s. Elijah on the mount found out the battle was not his, it was God’s. Daniel in the den of lions found out the battle was not his, it was God’s. Paul found out in the prison cell the battle was not his, it was God’s. We may also need to be reminded that the battle is not ours but God’s. What did those named above all have in common? They lifted their eyes to heaven, prayed and thanked God. Before we fall in the battle let us lift our eyes to heaven, pray and give thanks to our God for the battle is not ours it is God’s.
