March 13th, 2023 by Pastor Solley2 Kings 13:20-21 And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
21 And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

When our life ends our work on earth is done, or is it? Here we have the death of that great man of God, Elisha, and we find that although he was gone from this world he continued to have influence in it. Here we have a dead man thrown hastily into a tomb because those who were in charge of the burial were surprised by an enemy. No time to place him gently into the tomb, no time to wrap the body, just toss him in and hide. That man touched the bones of the prophet and was revived and the work and influence of Elisha continued on. What influence will you have after you leave this world? Will people remember your testimony, will they remember your stand for the Lord, your strength in the Lord, your wisdom in the Lord? What will be remembered about you? Could it be that long after you are gone that some remember and are touched by you? I think often of those who were a help to me, an influence upon me, those who had great wisdom in the Lord and shared it with me though counsel and some of them have been gone for forty years now. No, our work on earth is not done when we pass from this world. There are works that follow and not just to a reward in heaven but to others who are left behind. That is why we need to be steadfast in the Lord Jesus Christ, that is why we need to guard our testimony, that is why we need give all to Jesus Christ all of the time. Someone will be watching you even after you die.
