March 2nd, 2023 by Pastor SolleyJohn 15:4-7 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

In this friendship with Jesus there must be an abiding. That is a command in verse four above, “Abide in me”. The second part, Christ abiding in us is a promise and a promise from God cannot be broken, He abides in us. But what of us in Him? That words means to remain with, to continue with, to dwell with, to be present with and to stand with. Are you abiding with Christ? Will you spend time in the Word of God today, in prayer today, in meditation upon the things of God today? Will you remain steadfast in your faith today? Will you stand up for Jesus today? Will you abide with Jesus today? That takes in much more than just being born again. Many I know who profess to know Jesus today will not read His Word today. Many I know who profess to know Jesus today will spend very little time in prayer. Many I know who profess to know Jesus today will not stand with Him today. They are not abiding with Jesus. I know those things because there have been times in my Christian life that I was not abiding in Christ. Many are the times I have asked for forgiveness because I was not abiding with Him. Do you want to be a friend of God, to be called a friend? If we do we need to begin to abide with Jesus day by day.
