“Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”
There are not many in the Bible called the friends of God. We can sing What a Friend We Have in Jesus but very few will Jesus call friend. Many claim Jesus as Judas did but are far from being a friend of God. What does it take to be a friend of God? There are many benchmarks in this chapter. First there must be a relationship. ? John 15:1
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.”
? John 15:2
“Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”
One must be in Christ. Judas was not a friend because Judas was never born again. I cannot be a friend of one I do not know. I know of many people in this world but that does not make us friends. There must be a relationship. Are you saved this morning? The rest of this week we will look at what makes one a friend of God but it does not apply if you are not born again. Be sure today you have a relationship with Jesus.
