KJV
One time in the New Testament the word closet is found and the Christian is commanded to enter into that closet and to pray.
Joel 2:16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
KJV
This is the only time the word closet is found in the Old Testament and the command is for the bride to go out. Born again believers make up the bride of Christ today and consider the command to go out. It is important that we enter the closet of prayer but we are not to remain there. When one goes into a closet they are hidden, it is a secret place. Christians are not to remain there we are to go out. Secret Christians are of little or no value in this world. How can we let our light shine if we remain hid in our closet? How can we go into all the world if we remain hid in our closet? The closet of prayer is vital in our lives today but it is not a place we are to hide until Jesus returns, we are to come out of the closet so we can be valuable to Jesus Christ and make a difference in this world. Spend time in your closet of prayer today dear Christian because we need that time apart and alone with our Savior. But open that door and go out as well and let the world see Christ in you. He is our hope of glory and the only hope a lost and dying world has and Christ needs to be seen in you. (Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:)
