Rev 14:6-7 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
KJV
This is the last time the word everlasting is used in the Bible and it speaks of the everlasting gospel. The gospel messages is all about Jesus Christ. The Bible speaks of John’s gospel and John spoke of Jesus Christ being the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. The Bible speaks of Paul’s gospel and Paul preached Jesus Christ crucified, buried, and risen again to provide the forgiveness of sin and eternal life for any and all who would repent and call upon the name of Jesus. The Bible speaks in our text of an everlasting gospel in verse six above. Why is the gospel so important? Because there is a judgment coming, the hour of judgment is approaching. (Verse seven above.) Man is going to stand before God in heaven and give an account for sin and what he or she has done with Jesus Christ and His offer of salvation. For one who has ignored the gospel message, ignored Jesus Christ, denied Jesus Christ, mocked Jesus Christ, that judgement is going to begin an eternity in the fire of hell. That my friend is why the gospel is so important. For the one who is redeemed by the blood of Jesus, for the one who did confess and repent, for the one who called out to Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness of sin that judgment will be a glorious one and begins eternity in heaven. That is why the gospel is so important. What have you done with the gospel message, what have you done with Jesus? Christmas is about God’s gift to us, the Son that was given so we could have eternal life. Before you do something with the gift you may receive on Dec. 25th do something with the gift you have already been given, do something with the gospel and receive Jesus as your savior.
