Isa 30:18 And therefore will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
KJV
Blessed are all they that wait for Him. What are you waiting for today? Waiting for the paycheck at the end of this day? Waiting for the weekend? Waiting for Christmas? Waiting for news about medical tests? Waiting, waiting, waiting, we are all waiting for something. But if we want blessings we will be found waiting on the Lord. God has made many promises in His Word. Some of those promises for the nation of Israel, some of those promises for specific Old Testament saints, and some of those promises for us today as born again believers in Christ. Jesus has promised to hear our prayers, to answer our prayers, to give us rest, to give us peace, to give light in times of darkness and on and on I could go. But we do need to wait on the Lord. All of those things will come to us as we wait on the Lord. Our problem is that we don’t like to wait, at least that is a problem that I have. We want, I want things to happen right away as I bring them to the Lord in prayer. But when my time is not God’s time I must learn to wait. I notice in our verse above that the Lord will wait so that His grace may be seen. Could it be that if we were granted all that we asked for right away that we would forget to be thankful? We see that often today in the behavior of so many people. Perhaps God has good reason, and we know that God does, for making us wait on Him at times. Wait on the Lord and you will be blessed.
