1 Cor 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
KJV
Each year as the calender years winds down I am reminded of verses like the one above. God wants us to finish well. This of course is not talking about the year 2022 but of our life as a born again believer in Christ. It is talking about our service, our commitment to Jesus, our faithfulness, our obedience to His Word and so on and so forth. God wants us to finish well. The word quit is found only six times in the Bible, four of them have to do with standing strong or fast and finishing well, and only one time is that word found in the New Testament. It is interesting to me that the one place the word quit is found in the New Testament is in regards to the church at Corinth. That church has more problems than any other local church found in the Bible. Paul wrote to and visited that church to correct those problems. After receiving that correction and having been commanded to follow that correction they are told to “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” Now that they were on the right track they were to finish well, not fall back. God wants us to finish well. Where are you in your walk with the Lord? Is that walk what it was last year at this time, two years ago, three years ago? Are you still on the right track? As we approach the finish line of another calender year are you about to finish 2022 well for Jesus Christ? God wants us to finish well. (More on this tomorrow.)
