Ps 9:1-4 I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works.
2 I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O thou most High.
3 When mine enemies are turned back, they shall fall and perish at thy presence.
4 For thou hast maintained my right and my cause; thou satest in the throne judging right.
KJV
I have heard it said that praise should always follow prayer and with that I would agree. We bring our request before the Lord daily but how often do we give thanks? I would even contend that praise should go before prayer. If not one thing that I bring to the Lord today would be answered in the way that I desire there are still more things that have been done for me by Jesus than I could ever thank Him for. I read this Psalm and I find David thanking the Lord beforehand. Thanking the Lord for turning back his enemies, thanking the Lord for protecting him and on down through this Psalm thanking the Lord for things not yet done. Our God deserves our thanks and our praise continually. I wonder if some of the blessings of God are withheld in our lives because we forget to give Him our thanks and our praise. Praise should follow prayer but praise should also go before prayer. Praise and thanks giving should be something God sees always in us.
