Heb 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
KJV
How comforting the truth that our high priest, the Lord Jesus Christ, is touched with the feeling of our infirmities. Let the truth of this sink in for a moment this morning. Jesus knows how you are feeling. There are times when we do feel so all alone, that no one understands, that no one knows how to help, that there is no one who can lift us up. That is true of all who surround us in this world at times, no one does know how we feel and none can lift us up. But that is never true of Jesus, never true of our Lord, never true of our savior. In the Old Testament the people came to the tabernacle and then to the temple to present sacrifices and the High Priest then presented them to God. But that high priest was just a man and was not often touched by the feeling of the people. Not so with Jesus. Jesus is touched with our feelings and does know exactly what we are going through and exactly how to help. Why then is Jesus often our last resort instead of the first one we turn to. We will face many things in the week to come and some of them may be very unexpected. Praise God we have one who can help and one who is touched deeply by our feelings and infirmities.
