1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
KJV
Continuing in the steps of Jesus in 1 Peter chapter two. (1 Peter 2:20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.) The things that Jesus endured in this life could not be numbered and Jesus suffered all of those things wrongfully. The Father from His throne in heaven declared that He was well pleased with the Son. Pilate found no fault in Him. He was and is the spotless Lamb of God. Jesus endured suffering patiently. Why are so many of us so quick to complain about everything? We complain about government, about our health, about our lack of wealth, about the rising prices, even about the weather. We complain about so many things. No wonder when real trials arise we raise loud voices and cry out that we are being badly treated. There are times when a voice needs to be raised for sure so others can be warned about approaching troubles. But why not just give thanks to God for His great blessings before we begin to complain? When we lift our hearts to the Lord in thanksgiving and praise it most often lifts us above the trials of this life. Jesus even looked at the cross as a joy because He was walking to that cross in the will of the Father. (Heb 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.) Those are not the easiest footsteps to follow but they are before us.
