The last words of an individual are given special weight. The thought being that one would not lie just before death and then standing before God in judgment. The last were of Jesus, although few, ring out before God and man today, “It is finished”. What was finished? His life? The pain of the cross? What was finished? Salvation’s work was finished. Those things that were a puzzle to some now all fit together as Jesus said “It is finished”. John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Now His work was finished. Are you trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ today?
