1 John 3:1-3 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

The manner of love that the Father has bestowed upon us should begin to produce that same type of love in us. (1 John 4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.) That love then will begin to change and shape us and a big part of that change is found in verse three above. The Bible tells us that when we are saved old things pass away and all things become new, that there is a change in us. That change does not come about because we begin to follow rules and regulations set before us in the Bible although there are many. That change comes about because we begin to love the one who sacrificed His life, the one who bled and died for us, the one who lives for us today. Because we love Him we change. His love in us producing love that changes us. Why else when we have already been forgiven would we want to live a pure life before Him? Only because we have His love in us and we want to please Him. Why would a parent do so many things for a child? Love. Why do husbands and wives do so many things for each other? Love. What motivates a Christian to live a life of purity? Love for the one who produces real love in us.
