7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

This is not a bad place to be right now, shut up with our heavenly Father in prayer. Not that it ever was a bad place to be or ever could be a bad place to be. It seems that everyday we are met with a new challenge. Soaring gas prices, food prices, electric rates, heating costs and so on. Crime rates on the rise. Where to turn? Who can take care of the mess we have made of things? The answer of the government is to add and raise taxes, to set criminals free, and to pass laws that only hurt law abiding citizens. But there is one we can turn to, one we can talk to, one who has the answer for our every need and He invites us to enter into a closet with Him, shut the door, and spend some time. Remember He does know what we need even before we ask. (Verse 8) So why not allow Him to assure us in times of deep and secret prayer with Him? What I find though is that God’s people seem to be spending more time complaining today than time in prayer. That my friend is something that we need to change.
