11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
13 Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.

This is the first of three times the world memorial is found in the New Testament and it has to do with something done for Jesus. We looked in the Old Testament at memorials established because of what the Lord did for Israel and now we see a memorial because of something done for Jesus. We need to remember what the Lord has done for us, rehearse those things in our minds over and over again. But we also need to move past them if you would and be found doing something for Christ today. We need to be doing something with our lives that brings honor to Christ. What this woman did was seen as a waste to those watching, but not to Jesus. Whatever we do for Christ, great or small, when done in sincerity and truth is going to be remembered by Christ. What can we be doing for Jesus Christ today? In our small corners of the world the things done for Him may not be seen by others but they are marked and remembered in heaven. We also can have memorials established in our names for even the smallest of things done for Him.
