1 John 2:4-6 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
KJV
Why should a Christian obey the commands of Jesus, walk as He walked? For our own good, that is why. I was able to spend some time with my oldest grandson recently in the woods doing some hunting. I would tell him “Follow me, go where I go, sit here where I am going to sit.” Why? Because I have been that way many times before and knew where we should go, the best path to walk, the best place to sit and he had not. Keep that in mind when you consider when the Bible tells us how we ought to walk in verse six above. Could it be that Jesus has gone before us? Could it be that Jesus knows the best path to take? Could it be that we would be better off if we walked as He walked? My grandson did not disagree with me and we walked down the path together. I only wish the Lord could say the same about me as I look at the path already taken. I know I want Him to able to say that about me as I look at the many different paths ahead. We ought to walk as He walked.
