2 And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness!
KJV
How easy it is to murmur about the way God has chosen, the way God is leading in our lives. Here the children of Israel complain and murmur about the way God was leading them. There were giants in the land they would have to overcome and that is the reason for the reaction of the people in this passage. How soon they forgot the passing of the Red Sea on dry ground for them and the destruction of the armies of Egypt in the same Red Sea. How soon they forgot water from the rock and manna on the ground. It was easier for them to complain than to trust God and follow His leading. Not much has changed today among the people of God it seems as we tend to murmur about this world, about our circumstances in life, about problems and difficulties. We tend to forget all that God has done for us. Perhaps we would murmur less if we began each new day by looking back on all the things God has done for us. Like most reading this I could complain about things going on right now, or I can just begin to give God thanks for what He has done. When I do that I find that I have less and less to complain about and more and more to praise God for.
