John 2:1-5 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
KJV
This is know as the first miracle preformed by Jesus because the Bible states that later in the passage. (John 2:11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.) This is the first miracle for the purpose stated in that verse but it is not the first miracle preformed by the Son of God. Who was it that framed this world with His words? Who parted the Red Sea? Who pressed the walls of Jericho into the earth? Who opened the womb of Hannah? We serve a God of miracles but the one above did begin to point to Jesus Christ as the Messiah of Israel, as the Son of God, as the savior of the world. There are many lessons that can be learned from this miracle and the one I point to today is the interest Jesus takes in the lives of people. Why go to this wedding? Didn’t Jesus have more important things to do? Jesus is interested in the lives of people and we are important to Him. Don’t think for a moment that Jesus is not interested in what you do today, the things you need to do, the things you need help with, the direction you need, Jesus is interested in you. There was a nation who failed Jehovah, a nation in bondage, a nation that had corrupted the Law of Moses, and many more things we could say of Israel at that time. But Jesus took time to go to that wedding because Jesus takes interest in the lives of people. That includes us today and as I think of it that is a miracle to me, that Jesus would take interest in me today.
