Today is the day we remember the price that was paid for salvation. The words precious and blood are found many times in the Bible but above is one of only two verses where they are found together. Both of those verses speak of redemption. (Psalm 72:14 is the other.) The Bible tells us that “Without shedding of blood is no remission.” Blood must be shed for sin to be forgiven. But what type of blood is required for the sins of man to be washed away? Precious blood. Not the blood of animals, not even the blood of a normal man, only precious blood can wash away our sin. Where can this precious blood be found? Only in Jesus Christ. Only in the perfect and sinless man. Only in Jesus Christ. Only in the one who left heaven above and took on the form of man in order to die on the cross. Only in the God Man. Only in the very Son of God because He is Almighty God in the flesh. The blood of Jesus Christ and His alone is precious blood. Have you been washed in the blood today? Have you looked to the cross because you realized there is no other place to look for forgiveness? Have you called on the only name that can save? His and His blood alone is precious blood. If you have never repented of sin and turned to Jesus to have those sins washed away make this the day, make this the day that precious blood is applied to your life.
