December 29th, 2021 by Pastor Solley2 Kings 20:1-6 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying,
3 I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
4 And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Lord, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the Lord.
6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

King Hezekiah was about to die and he prayed for more years to live and God answered that prayer as Hezekiah was given fifteen more years on this earth. What did he do with those years? Study his life and you find that he did much good during those fifteen years for the Lord and for Israel. He did make wise use of those fifteen years. It also needs to be pointed out that he made some mistakes as well. Now we stand waiting for a New Year to begin in just a few days. What will we do with another year? What will we do for the Lord in 2022? We need to determine to do much good for Jesus Christ in this New Year as we look at this troubled world and troubled souls. People need to come to know Jesus, they need to hear of the salvation that can be found in Christ. Others who know Jesus need to be encouraged in the Lord. We can do much good in this New Year. We have been granted a New Year just as Hezekiah was granted fifteen new years. Let us not make the same mistakes as in the past, let us determine to do much for Christ in 2022 and make wise use of this coming year for the Lord.
