Ps 1:1-3 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
KJV
Some thoughts this week on the coming New Year. For many as they look back on 2021 there hardly seems much to give thanks for, it would hardly seem to be a good year and it may seem that there is little to look forward to in 2022. A virus that continues to hold people in fear, a government overstepping its power, people losing jobs, and so much more. Then the personal losses ones have had to deal with along with extended illnesses. What will the New Year bring? When we focus on 2021 it can be depressing thinking about 2022. That is until we stop and look back at all the Lord has done for us over the past year. We need to make our delight in the law of the Lord. (Verse 2) God never changes and God’s Word never changes so let us look back at answered prayers, at the way God worked in lives, at souls saved, at the provision of God, at the presence of God felt in our lives. Those things can also be found in 2021 and they will also be found in 2022. Take a moment today and look back and find something to give God thanks for over the past year, delight in Him. Then find another and another. Then stop and think of how God will bless in the coming year. In my family there have been trials over the past year and losses, but the blessings of God outweigh them. With that in mind we can look forward to how God will make verse three above come to pass in 2022.
