John 10:27-30 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
KJV
We have been looking at unused Christmas gifts all week and today one more. Most Christmas gifts left unused are soon forgotten and have little bearing on the future but not the one we consider today. Jesus Christ came into this world to seek and save the lost. The seeking is done as the Holy Spirit draws all to Christ at one time or another in their lives by convicting them of sin. The saving takes place when a lost sinner puts his or her faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. No greater gift could ever be offered or received than the gift of eternal life. But how many will let that gift go unused? How many will never confess that they are a sinner in need of a savior? How many will never repent turning from sin? How many will never call upon Jesus to save them? How many will let that gift go unused? I may not use the tie I receive on Christmas Day, or the shirt, or whatever it might be and the consequences will not be great. I could hurt feelings but the one giving the gift may never know it goes unused. But not the gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus. To let that gift go unused brings eternal consequences and the one who gave it will point out on the judgment day that His gift went unused. The result will be an eternity in hell. Are you saved today? Are you born again? What of the gift of eternal life? Have you received Jesus Christ or have you left His gift to you go unused?
