Deut 32:8-9 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
9 For the Lord’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.
KJV

The Lord’s portion is His people. Going back to the call of Abraham we find that God chose that man and then those people to be His inheritance. Abraham had to believe God, had to move to God in faith, but God chose Abraham and then Israel to be His people. I wonder how pleased the Lord has been with His inheritance over the years? Let us move now to the New Testament.
(Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:) God also has an inheritance today and it is the born again believer in Christ. We know that all have been chosen to salvation, Jesus died for all on that cross. We also know that we must believe, repent, and receive Jesus Christ as our personal savior, that choice is ours. But when we do believe we become the inheritance of the Lord, the Lord’s portion, the Lord’s people. We do not become Israel but we do become children of the Lord. I wonder how pleased God is with His inheritance when He looks at me? God certainly was not and is not pleased with Israel, His portion. But I wonder how pleased God is with me, with His portion today, with His inheritance today? Perhaps we would live our lives in a different fashion if we considered ourselves to be what we are, the Lord’s portion, His inheritance.
