2 My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God.
4 Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
5 Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
6 Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
KJV
The valley of Baca is linked to battles fought by David. Few people want to stand in a battle, want to be at war. If physical or spiritual and battle most often involves injury and can mean loss. But David here see the valley of Baca as one filled with good springs and refreshing waters. How few times we look at spiritual battles in this light, but we should. If our Lord has led us into a place of battle surely He will provide a way for victory. That is what David found out in his physical battles time and time again. With the lion and bear in the fields keeping watch over his father’s flock God gave the victory. Running out to meet Goliath God gave the victory. Even when Saul was trying to kill him God gave David a way of escape. Then with the Philistines over and over again God gave the victory. If God could do that in the physical battles he faced David knew God would do the same in the spiritual battles. Today as we seem to be looking at great spiritual enemies and battles rest assured that God can make those battles a well and fill the pools with refreshing waters. Let your strength be found in the Lord as it states in verse five above.
