James 5:13-16 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
KJV
What is it that hinders prayer in our lives? Could it be a lack of prayer? The Bible says in verse thirteen above that if any are afflicted, let them pray. But is that the only time we should pray, when we are afflicted, when we are in deep trouble? It is good to pray at those times, but is that the only time we should pray? I have friends that when they call on the phone do not have to identify who they are, I know them by the sound of their voice because I am used to talking to them. Others I know will call on the phone and I have no idea who they are because I am not used to talking to them, to hearing their voice. I wonder if that is how God feels at times when He hears our voice? Is it a voice that our God is used to hearing? A voice that calls out when afflicted but also a voice that God hears when we are merry. Is it a voice that God is used to hearing sign praises to His name? It is a voice that God is used to hearing thank Him for His goodness and His mercy and grace? Is it a voice that God hears daily, a voice that God hears often, is ours a voice that God is familiar with? It should be.
