Ps 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Ps 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
KJV
The twenty seventh chapter of the Psalms begins and ends with David standing in the Lord, with David making the Lord the strength of his life. What takes place in between is what makes this short Psalm such a blessing. David comes under attack from the enemies of the Lord.
(Ps 27:2-3, 12 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident., 12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.) How could one be confident in the face of such an attack, how could one see any light at all? Because they had decided to wait on the Lord. (Ps 27:14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.) David knew where he could find strength to face the enemy. David knew who could grant a victory. David learned the value of waiting on the Lord many times before. David would simply wait on the Lord. What this means for us is that we do not need look for help and deliverance from any other than the Lord, than our Lord and Savior Jesus. Can Christ still deliver us from our enemies today? The only ones who don’t know the answer to that are those who will not wait on Him.
