Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

There is a hymn that we sing that is titled “I must tell Jesus”. Notice in the account of the miracle of the impotent man that Jesus does indeed know all about our troubles. (Verse 6) Jesus knew all about this man, all about his troubles, how long he had been in that condition, how many disappointments that he had, how many other things he had tried to be well, Jesus knew. And Jesus went right to the man with the greatest need. Now the question, “Wilt thou be made whole?” Seems like a question that didn’t need to be asked. After all the man had went to the pool at the right time, was waiting for the waters to be troubled, why ask the question? Because Jesus wanted him to make the need known as he does in the following verses. Christian, do you tell Jesus all of your troubles, do you take them to the Lord in prayer, do you look to Him for help and answers? Yes, the Lord does know all about us, does know of our troubles and trials, Jesus already knows. But Jesus also wants us to come to Him, to make the need known. Great things are going to happen to this man after he tells Jesus all abut his troubles, all about what he has been trying to do for so many years, great things happen after he tells Jesus. Don’t ever keep anything back from Jesus. He already knows all about our troubles but He is still the answer that we need.
