7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee.

“Every one that is Godly pray unto thee”. Why pray? I was talking to an individual recently and they told me that prayer, while they pray often, seems to be doing little good in their lives. Let me say that prayer never does little good in the life of the believer in Christ but that prayer coming from the heart of the Godly always does great things. Jesus said that prayer can move mountains and so it has more times than could ever be recorded. But please notice the verses that follow verse six above. We can pray, we can see mountains moved, we can see the flood waters held back from us as we do in verse six above and we are delivered from much trouble by prayer as we see in verse seven. But we also need to be looking to our Lord for instruction and guidance as we find in verse eight. We also need to place our lives willingly under His guidance and direction as we see in verse nine. We should not be as the horse or mule and be driven, pushed or pulled to follow our Lord. Prayer does great things, always great things. But when our prayers seem to be hindered we need to look within first and see that we are following our Lord in the way and direction we are to go. We also need to be sure we are praying for His will to be accomplished and Him be glorified in what we pray. The individual I spoke of above professes to be saved, says they love Jesus and that they pray often. But they also have very little time for the Lord until an emergency comes up, then they pray. Perhaps they fit verse nine more then they do verse seven. When our prayers seem to be hindered we need to be sure we fit into verses six and seven more than we do verse nine.
