Ps 37:23-25 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

Lastly this week we see that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. To understand this we must first identify who this good man is and we can do that in the verses of this Psalm. A good man, according to this Psalm, is a man who trusts the Lord, who does good in the sight of the Lord, who is committed to the Lord, who walks in the righteousness of the Lord. He is not good on his own, he is good in the Lord because of his relationship with the Lord. We can say today that the good man is one washed in the blood of Jesus Christ, he is born again. Now in the life of that good man nothing happens by chance, all his steps are ordered by the Lord. That means that all that takes place in life, things that are a delight as well as things that may not be so delightful have been established by the Lord and will be for our good and His glory. Your steps are ordered or established by the Lord as a born again Christian. With that said there will be many times when we delight in the steps that God has established and thank and praise Him for those steps. There may also be steps that make us feel cast down as we see in verse twenty four. But we can also give praise and thanks for those things because the Lord will lift us up during those times. Even in what seems like dark and lonely hours we are never forsaken and left with none to help us. I visited with Christians in nursing homes this week and for them those steps are ordered and the Lord is with them. I visited with some in the hospital this week and for them those steps are ordered and the Lord is with them. I fellow shipped with brothers and sisters in Christ in the Lord’s house this week and those steps were ordered. I am off to the doctor’s office today and those steps are ordered. Nothing we do is apart from the presence of the Lord, all of our steps are order by the Lord. With that in mind dear Christian when we take steps that delight us, when we take steps that make us feel cast down, remember those same steps are ordered by the Lord and we are never alone. Let us delight in that eternal truth today.
