May 28th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyHag 2:1-4 In the seventh month, in the one and twentieth day of the month, came the word of the Lord by the prophet Haggai, saying,
2 Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, and to the residue of the people, saying,
3 Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
4 Yet now be strong, O Zerubbabel, saith the Lord; and be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest; and be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work: for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:
KJV
The message of Haggai to the people was to be strong in doing the work of the Lord. (Verse 4) They became discouraged as they looked at the rebuilt temple as it did not compare to the temple of Solomon. But God did not call them to build a temple that was a mirror image of the temple of Solomon, God called them to build as they could in His might and power. We can become discouraged as we look back at what used to be in our nation, in our churches and what we see today. While we may have a little strength as compared to the past we still have a source of great strength before and within us. Why not look to what God has for us to do today, let the past go, and be strong in the Lord? Even in these days we are living in there is much to do for the Lord and we can still be strong in the Lord. That is one thing many Christians forget today, there is strength in the Lord, we can still be strong, we can still do the work of the Lord. Why? Because He is with us and His power has not diminished. (Verse 4)
