May 6th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyLuke 1:41-45 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.
45 And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

Continuing with our studies of mothers this morning we find Elisabeth, who was the mother of John the Baptist, filled with praise and thanksgiving. How great a blessing it is to hear mother in praise and thanksgiving to God. That is not a question, it is a statement. My grandmother used to thank the Lord for everything and I remember that so well. Even when I had the task of telling her that my grandfather had passed the first words out of her mouth were “Praise the Lord.” She was filled with praise and thanksgiving. I remember this as I spent time with my mother as cancer overtook her and she would always be praising God for His goodness toward her. “God has been so good to me” were words often heard from her. How children today need to hear moms praising and thanking God, to see moms who are filled with praise and thanksgiving. That trait has been replaced in many homes with complaints and bitterness and while there may be a great deal to complain about today, many things that might move one to bitterness, those things do no good in any situation or circumstance. How often do people hear you praising and thanking the Lord? Not just in good times but at all times praise and thanksgiving should be coming from us. What a testimony that is to children to have a mom filled with praise and thanksgiving.
