April 20th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyHeb 2:17-18 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
KJV
It behoved Jesus Christ to be made like unto His brethren, like unto men. The word as it is used here means to be bound. Jesus was made a man, bound to be like men. Why? Not only so He could be our redeemer and sacrifice for sin but so He could succour us as well. So He could help us in ways that none else can. Jesus, because He was and is bound to us has suffered in all ways that we do and much, much more. So when you feel no one understands what you are going through Jesus does. Jesus is bound to you. When there is none to help you Jesus can. Jesus is bound to you. The cords that bind Him are cords of love, those cords lowered to and wrapped around us when we were born again. I think of Jeremiah being lifted from the mire by those cords wrapped under his arms when I am so troubled I don’t know where to turn. Jesus will lift you up because He has made Himself bound to you dear Christian. It behoved Him to be made like you.
