Ps 3 Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.
3 But thou, O Lord, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
4 I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.
5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.
7 Arise, O Lord; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.
8 Salvation belongeth unto the Lord: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
KJV
When our children were babies and then as they grew I often would watch them sleep. It was a sleep of peace, trouble free, and it reminded me of verse five of this Psalm. Now I watch, the few times I am able, our grandchildren sleep the same type of sleep. How do you sleep dear Christian? I am often awakened by the pains of old age as many who read this are as well. But we never need be awakened by trouble or fears, we can sleep a sleep of peace and rest as far as that in concerned because of verse five above. Are you depending upon the Lord to sustain you? I have as many questions about today and tomorrow as anyone else. I have health concerns as many others do. I have no idea what the future holds for this nation, our church, our families and friends. But I know I have no reason to fear if I allow the Lord to sustain me. Even though ten thousands of people may surround me I have no reason to fear as long as I remember the Lord is on my side and He will sustain me.
