2 Tim 2:1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
KJV
Apologies for no devotional yesterday as I was away from my PC. We continue now with our word study looking at the phrase “Be strong”. Found only three of the thirty six times in the New Testament the first is in 1 Cor sixteen. (1 Cor 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.) Here I find that I am to be strong so I can quit like a man. In short it means to finish well. I had an instructor in Bible college who always said it was not so important how one starts as it is how one finishes, finish well. In this Christian life we live, in the battle we are in, in the race we are running it is important that we finish well. The landscape of Christianity is littered with those who did not finish well. So we are commanded to watch in 1 Cor 16:13, to be on guard, to be alert, so we might finish well. The enemy will put anything he possible can in our path to cause us to stumble so be watchful, be on guard, finish well. Paul could say that he was about to finish his course with joy, that he was about to finish well and he did. Be strong dear Christian, be strong in the Lord. See the attacks and tactics of the enemy for what they are. See the changing world, see the trials of this life, see the heartaches, the tears, the fears for what they are and determine by His power, mercy, and grace to finish well. Be strong in the Lord, finish well.
