2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

“He calleth His own sheep by name”. Another short but very profound statement to me. Of all the born again believers who have ever lived in this world, of all the ones alive right now, Jesus knows my name, calls me by name. As I think of that I am overwhelmed. I greet people as they come in and as they leave our little church and even those I have known for years I will at times mix up their name with someone else. Not Jesus, He knows my name, he calls me by name. That tells me just how much He loves and cares for me. When I awake during the night troubled by something and I go to the Lord in prayer it is almost as if I can hear Jesus saying my name, saying by name that things will be alright as long as I trust in Him. We had a short visit with our daughter and her family and the grandsons slept in our bedroom with us. Noah a few times in the night sat up in his makeshift bed and called out. I would say to him “Everything is alright Noah, pappy is here” and he would lay back down and go to sleep. How many times Jesus has called out my name in the night and said the very same thing I could not possibly count. What I do know is that he knows my name.
