Ps 118:8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

As I read my Bible I find that it is most often the simplest verse that makes the most profound statement to me. What a simple statement Ps 118:8 makes but what a tremendous truth. The man the Holy Spirit used to write down these words of God is not identified but I like to think, as most do, that it was David because of the content. Use these few words to understand how David could go out against Goliath and it becomes very understandable the actions of that young boy. Use these few words to understand how Elijah could stand up against what he believed an entire nation fallen away from the Lord and those actions become understandable. Use these few words to understand how Peter and John could stand against the leaders of Israel and proclaim the gospel and it becomes understandable. Use these few words to get you through the troubles and trials of everyday life and it becomes a life of joy and blessings in the Lord. Many of us are dealing with some very hard things right now and we need remember it is always better to trust in the Lord.
