Kings 6:1-7 And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.
Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.
And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.
So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.
But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.
And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.
Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

There are some things, many things, I read in the Bible and at first I wonder why they are there. In our text a building project is taking place and a man cutting down a tree loses the head off his ax and it falls into the water. Similar things have happened to me over the years, the wedge will become lose and the head will come off a pick, or a sledge hammer, or an axe. If the head is lost I just get another. Why is this account in the Bible? The axe was borrowed and the man responsible for its return and I get that, but why such a little thing in the Bible? In performing this miracle, making the axe head swim, Elisha demonstrates just how much God cares for us. If God would give the power to take care of such a little thing to the prophet it shows me just how much God cares for every part of our lives. Great or small, God knows all of the problems in all of our lives and is able to help in every situation. Don’t just take the big problems of life to the Lord, take all of the problems of life to the Lord, He cares.
