2 Cor 7:6 Nevertheless God, that comforteth those that are cast down, comforted us by the coming of Titus;
KJV
I was reading a book some time ago about the 23rd Psalm and the writer was at one time a sheep farmer and he wrote about a sheep that was cast. That sheep had fallen and for one reason or another had rolled upon its back and could not get up. Left alone gasses would build up inside the sheep and it would die. There was nothing the sheep could do to right itself and the harder it tried the more the gasses would build up and death would come sooner. I think of that illustration as I read our verse this morning. There are times, more than we like to think, when we are cast. There is nothing we can do to help ourselves. To struggle against the trouble or trial seems only to make it worse. What can we do? There is one who will take care of us when we are cast. If the cast sheep would just wait for the shepherd, who always had a watchful eye, to appear all would be fine and the sheep would be saved. Why not just wait upon the Lord dear brother and sister when we are cast. Our Good Shepherd is never far away and he comes to comfort and deliver His seep who are cast.
