Ps 119:15-18 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways.
16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.
17 Deal bountifully with thy servant, that I may live, and keep thy word.
18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
KJV
In this beautiful Psalm there is recorded for us several prayers offered up to God by David and one of them found in verse eighteen. (Ps 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.) To me it is a very telling prayer. There is not a born again believer who will read this that does not know that our God does many wondrous things. But there are times when we seem to be blinded to them for a moment or two. Troubles in this world, health problems, loss, questions about the future, doubts and fears, all of these can blind us at least for a moment to the wondrous things God is doing for us. David had many blessings in his life and many trials as well. Could it be that the trials of life, the temptations of the world, his flesh and how many other things could blind him to the wondrous things of God? Based on his prayer I think they could. If David, a man after God’s own heart, needed to pray for God to open his eyes then how much the more do we need, do I need pray that as well? Stop today and look at the wondrous things God has already done for you. Think of the times God has blessed beyond measure. Think of the times God has carried you through sorrow and heartache. Think of those times and if is seems hard to do so then prayer for God to open your eyes to His wondrous things.
