Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;
For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.
I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:
Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.
Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

Have you ever felt like the psalmist in this chapter? A better question would be, who hasn’t felt like the psalmist in this chapter? I find that this one has called upon God for salvation, knows the Lord, and yet his soul is full of troubles. (Verses 1-3) He is at one of the lowest points in his life.(verse 6) It is usually at this point a Psalm turns and one finds the deliverance of God in the following verses. Not so with this Psalm. Take time to look up and read Psalm 88 and you find it ends in much the same was as the first few verses begin. Not a very comforting thought is it? But then take time to read the surrounding Psalms and you do find God’s love, grace, mercy and deliverance poured out upon His own. What is my point this morning? Even in our darkest hours stay faithful to the Lord, to the one who loves us, to the one who has done so much for us, stay faithful to the Lord. We will experience dark times in this world, all of us will, but our God is still faithful. Stay faithful to Him.
