January 27th, 2021 by Pastor SolleyLuke 9:28-32 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.
29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.
30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:
31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.
32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

Do you think Peter, James and John were happy to be living in the time in which they were born? Right away we say yes but we should stop and think about it for just a moment. They were born at a time when Israel was in bondage to Rome. They had freedom only as far as a corrupt government would allow. Religion had also been corrupted and it was the tradition of the elders that ruled and not the Law. They had to work hard and surrendered most of their wages to Rome in the form of taxes. It was a dark time in the history of that nation. Yet they lived at a time when Jesus was in this world and they were permitted to see the very glory of Almighty God. Were they happy to live at that time? I would say yes. Now let us think of our day. All that we just said of Peter, James and John could be said of the Christian today. An oppressive government and a new administration that is taking away our freedoms. Taxes going up. Most churches have turned away from the truth of the Bible. Are we happy to be alive today? We should be when we think of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the glory that will be ours when the trumpet sounds. Now I am not saying the rapture is going to be now, this year, in the next year or even ten to twenty years. But I know that day is coming and I know I will meet Jesus in all His glory in the air. I am happy to be living at this time.
