1 Thess 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

What is this verse telling us? Two things I would direct your attention to this morning. Give thanks for the circumstances of life whatever they may be because they are within the will of God for us and according to Romans 8:28 God will use them for good. That includes the things that we do not understand, the things that bring sorrow, that includes all for our God can do all things well. Give thanks for the will of God. Second, it is God’s will that we be thankful. The circumstances of life fall under the will of God but it is also God’s will to give thanks even in difficult times. It is there we most often have a problem, giving thanks, being thankful in difficult times. Perhaps I should say it is there I have a problem. But is it God’s will that I give thanks for all things, that I give thanks in every thing? That is what my Bible says. I don’t know that I have as yet truly thanked God for allowing me to have cancer, but I need to. I am able to thank God when I can see the blessings ahead but I also need to thank God when I see the trials ahead. God wants us to be thankful even in difficult times.
