Eph 4:15-17 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
KJV
We are not to walk like other Gentiles. The Bible is speaking to born again believers in this passage but not to Jewish believers alone. The Jewish believers at that time knew by the Old Testament Scriptures the manner in which they were to live in this world. The Gentile believers had no such background and the New Testament was not yet complete. So how were they to walk in the Lord? The first thing they were told was not to be like the other Gentiles, not to live like the world, not to walk like the world. God has always wanted there to be a difference between His children and the world. Do you wonder if something is right or wrong to do and you cannot seem to get a clear answer? Look at the world and most likely if the world is doing it you and I should not. Now most things are covered specifically for us in the Bible, but some are not. Take the way the world is glued to their cell phones. Most people today spend hour after hour looking at that phone. I can’t see that in the Bible but I do know it is taking many people away from the Lord. What if people spent just one tenth of the time they spend on that phone in the Bible and in prayer? The cell phone is not evil but it is the way of the world.
