August 14th, 2020 by Pastor SolleyJer 13:7-10 Then I went to Euphrates, and digged, and took the girdle from the place where I had hid it: and, behold, the girdle was marred, it was profitable for nothing.
8 Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
9 Thus saith the Lord, After this manner will I mar the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem.
10 This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing.
KJV
The linen girdle was marred, useless, because it was not used in the way it should have been, because it was left in the dirty water, because it was not taken care of. This was a picture of Israel at that time as well as a picture of Christianity today. We are not to try and work for salvation or work to keep salvation, but we should take care of our salvation. We cannot be lost, the linen girdle was not lost, but we can become useless to God if we are not found walking with Christ. We can become marred and good for nothing in this world and our salvation can be wasted if you allow me to put it that way. Like Israel was to God we are a prized possession and as such we should take care to remain that way.
